THE TOWER OF BABEL (ziggurat )
GENESIS 11:1-9 The Tower of Babel
1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. 3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” 5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” 8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earthand they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

MORAL : In the beginning all humans lived together in harmony with God and each other, however their sinful pride and arrogance caused them to think of equalling God and ,this angered the Lord who confused their language and led them to disperse all over the world. This disunity is similar to what we see in our world today with people and nations fighting against each other due to injustices and suffering leading to wars, violence ,terrorism etc.
However, despite humanities sinful nature it's Gods desire to save and regather the whole humanity and creation to himself again. This is why God sent Jesus ,His Son ,into the world to be our saviour.

Letter of St Paul to the Colossians 1:15-20
Why did God send Christ into the world?
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
