LESSON 8 : THE CHURCH IS HOLY

READ :         1 PETER 1 :13-21

REFLECTION:

  • WHY DO YOU THINK PETER ADVICED THE CHRISTIANS TO BE HOLY?

  • IN WHAT WAY DOES PETER ASK THE CHRISTIANS TO EXPRESS THEIR HOLINESS?

  • WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT FOR PETER TO REMIND THE CHRISTIANS ABOUT SACRIFICE THAT JESUS HAD MADE FOR THEM?

FAITH RESPONSE:

All of us are call to holiness.Through our holiness we are call to make the world holy.

To grow in HOLINESS is to become more Christ-like, by living the beatitudes of Jesus, listening and reading the Bible and reflecting on scripture.

THE WORD OF GOD

  1. FORMS
  2. INFORMS
  3. REFORMS

We must also participate consciously and actively in the liturgy especially the Eucharist as well as spend time in personal and community prayer in our homes ,BECs and in our parish.

We can grow in holiness by living out the beatitudes .MATTHEW 5:3-10

The text of St. Matthew runs as follows:

  • Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. (Verse 4)
  • Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse 5)
  • Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. (Verse 6)
  • Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse 7)
  • Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. (Verse 8)
  • Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Verse 9)

What can we do to live out the beatitudes in our daily lives?
  • Can we show respect, care and concern for our family members
